Delphi, the “navel of the Earth” for the ancient Greeks, is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Built on the slopes of Mount Parnassus overlooking the valley of olive groves, it combines mythology, history and an enchanting landscape. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Delphi was home to the famous oracle of Apollo, where the Pythia delivered the prophecies that shaped decisions across the ancient world. The site was a panhellenic religious centre and hosted the Pythian Games in honour of Apollo. Its heyday lasted for centuries, until the rise of Christianity.
The archaeological site with the temple of Apollo, the ancient theatre and the stadium reveals the grandeur of the oracle. The Tholos of Athena Pronaia, the most photographed monument, and the excellent Archaeological Museum with the Charioteer are a must. Picturesque Arachova and the Parnassus ski resort are very close.
The cuisine of the area is based on mountain flavours: meat, local cheeses (Arachova formaela), hilopites and pies. Try traditional dishes in tavernas in Delphi and Arachova, accompanied by tsipouro. The flavours are authentic and match the mountain landscape.
In Delphi nightlife is quiet, with cafés and tavernas. Nearby Arachova, however, is famous for its lively nightlife, especially in winter, with bars and clubs that fill with skiers. The combination of history and cosmopolitan Arachova makes the area special.

Since this is a self-drive trip in your own car, there is no departure surcharge — you set off from wherever suits you.
For your trip within Greece, a valid national ID card or passport is enough. If you travel by air, you need an official photo ID for the airport check. For minors travelling, please check any required documents in advance.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked for you, so the cost depends on how close to departure you are and on the fare rules of each booking. Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
