2-day trip to Trikala: the Elves’ Mill and Meteora

The most fairytale-like factory in Greece opens its doors again and we are there. Two days in Trikala, with the festive city on the first evening and Meteora on the second day, departing from Corinthia and staying overnight at the Ntinas Hotel.

Departure: Saturday, December 5, 07:00 from Xylokastro and 07:20 from Kiato.

We travel by our agency’s air-conditioned coach, with a tour leader-guide with you throughout the trip. No driving, no searching for parking in the festive city, and with the hotel and breakfast already included in the price.

What you will experience

• The Elves’ Mill: In the evening we visit Santa Claus’s house, the chocolate factory, the Elves’ Post Office, the crafts workshop, and the Candy workshop.
• The city in celebration: Every corner and square of Trikala is transformed with dozens of artistic events, game activities, and surprises.
• Meteora: We climb the vertical cliffs to reach the 16th-century Varlaam Monastery — with the giant barrel and the net mechanism that used to transport goods — and the Monastery of Agios Stefanos.
• Old Trikala: Free time for the Fortress, Varousi with its beautiful mansions, the Kursum Mosque, and the Tsitsanis Museum.

Itinerary

1. 07:00· 07:20

   Departure at 07:00 in the morning from Xylokastro and 07:20 from Kiato heading to the city of Trikala.

   After making intermediate stops, we arrive at the hotel and check into our rooms.

   The city is celebrating and invites us to its largest and most fairytale-like factory.

   Every corner and square is transformed and comes alive with dozens of original artistic events, game activities, and surprises.

   In the afternoon, we are free to explore the Fortress, Varousi with its beautiful mansions, the Kursum Mosque, and the Tsitsanis Museum.

   In the evening, we will visit the Elves’

   Mill, where we will see Santa Claus’s house, the chocolate factory, the Elves’

   Post Office, the crafts workshop, the Candy workshop, and much more.

2. 10:00

   After breakfast, we depart at around 10:00 a.m.

   to visit the Meteora Digital Projection Centre (cost 3 €), which has been operating in recent years under the care of the municipality of Kalabaka and digitally projects the creation of Meteora.

   We continue to Meteora, a unique geological phenomenon worldwide that leaves every visitor speechless, no matter how many times they have visited the area.

   We will climb the vertical cliffs to reach the Varlaam Monastery, built in the 16th century, featuring many relics and points of interest: we will see, among other things, the giant barrel and the net mechanism used to transport goods.

   Afterwards, we visit the Monastery of Agios Stefanos.

   We head to Trikala and stop for lunch.

   In the afternoon, we depart for our return journey, with an intermediate stop along the way.
