Milos is geologically the most striking island in the Cyclades, with volcanic landscapes that resemble a lunar surface and more than seventy beaches of astonishing colour variety. It is a destination for those who love exploring, swimming and quiet.
Milos has been inhabited since the third millennium BC and prospered thanks to obsidian, the volcanic stone it exported across the Mediterranean. The statue of the Venus de Milo was found here in 1820 and is displayed today in the Louvre. The ancient city with its Roman theatre and the early Christian catacombs testify to the island’s long history.
Sarakiniko with its white volcanic rock, Kleftiko which can only be reached by boat, and Firopotamos impress every visitor. Also worth seeing are the picturesque village of Klima with its syrmata boat houses, the Venetian castle of Plaka, the Catacombs, the ancient theatre and the beaches of Paleochori, Tsigrado and Papafragas.
The local cuisine is built on fish and island produce, with signature dishes such as pitarakia cheese pies with mint, ladenia flatbread and rabbit with aubergines. Try the local xinomizithra cheese, the thyme honey and the wine made from indigenous grape varieties.
Adamas and Pollonia hold most of the bars and seaside restaurants, with a relaxed and civilised atmosphere. In Plaka, a drink with a sunset view from the castle is an experience not to be missed.

The full list of what is and is not included appears in the "Included / Excluded" section on this page.
For domestic travel you need a valid police ID card or passport in order to board the ferry or the flight. Bring your AMKA or European Health Insurance Card, and a valid driving licence plus a credit card in the driver's name if a car or scooter is included. Minors must carry their own travel document. Entry rules change, so please confirm the current requirements with our office before you book.
The local currency is Euro. Cards are widely accepted in cities and hotels, but it is worth carrying some cash for small shops, markets and tips. Tell your bank you are travelling so your card is not blocked.

Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
