Geneva, Switzerland’s second-largest city, is one of the most elegant, green and multicultural metropolises in the world. Known as the “Capital of Peace”, Geneva is built where the river Rhône flows out of the idyllic Lake Léman (known as Lake Geneva), surrounded by the imposing peaks of the Alps and the Jura. The city uniquely combines French finesse and gastronomy with Swiss precision and organisation. Home to dozens of international organisations and a global centre of fine watchmaking, Geneva charms visitors with its tranquil lakeside promenades, its historic lanes, its vast parks and the sense of absolute quality that pervades its every corner.
Geneva began as a fortified settlement of the Celts and later the Romans, thanks to its strategic position on the banks of the Rhône. During the Middle Ages, it developed into a powerful trading city, but the most defining chapter of its history was written in the 16th century, when it became the global centre of Calvinism. The religious reformer John Calvin settled here, turning the city into a “Protestant Rome” and attracting thousands of persecuted refugees from all over Europe, who brought with them the crafts of watchmaking and banking. In the 19th century, Geneva became the birthplace of the Red Cross, sealing its humanitarian character and leading to its selection in the 20th century as the seat of the League of Nations and the European headquarters of the United Nations (UN).
The tour begins in the Old Town (Vieille Ville), the historic centre perched on a hill, with its cobbled lanes and the imposing St Pierre Cathedral (Saint-Pierre). The city’s trademark is the Jet d’Eau, Geneva’s giant fountain-symbol out in the lake, which shoots water 140 metres into the air. Stroll through the Jardin Anglais (English Garden) park to see the famous L’horloge fleurie (the Flower Clock), a tribute to Swiss watchmaking. On the other side of the city stands the Palais des Nations (Palace of Nations), the impressive European headquarters of the UN, while directly opposite lies the deeply moving Red Cross Museum. For science lovers, the Science Gateway at CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, offers a unique interactive experience. Finally, a cruise on the lake or a cable-car ride up the neighbouring Mont Salève (which lies on French soil) offers breathtaking views.
Geneva’s cuisine is deeply influenced by French gastronomy, with an emphasis on fine ingredients, the region’s wines and fish from the lake. The quintessential traditional dish to try is Filets de Perche (small, delicate fillets of Lake Léman perch, pan-fried in butter and served with tartare sauce and potatoes). Of course, Cheese Fondue (melted Swiss cheeses, mainly Gruyère and Vacherin, with white wine and garlic) remains the king of meals, especially in the historic taverns of the Old Town (such as Les Armures). For a classic meat dish, try Longeole (a traditional pork sausage flavoured with aromatic fennel). For dessert, Geneva is a paradise of artisan chocolate—visit the historic houses of Auer and Du Rhône for handmade pralines and the chocolate “cobblestones” of Geneva (pavés de Genève).
Geneva’s nightlife is more low-key than that of other European capitals, but it offers excellent, carefully curated options. The evening usually begins with an aperitivo or a glass of local Swiss Chasselas wine in the elegant wine bars of the Old Town or the Place du Bourg-de-Four. The absolute hub of lively, alternative nightlife is the Carouge neighbourhood. This district, built by the Italians and strongly reminiscent of Sardinia, is full of trendy bars, pubs, jazz clubs and bistros where the city’s young crowd gathers. In the summer months, the action moves to the lakeshore and Les Pâquis, where open-air bars spring up by the water, offering a relaxed atmosphere, cocktails and live music beneath the stars.
The official currency of Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF), so you will need to exchange currency or use a card (cards are accepted everywhere, even for the smallest amounts). Geneva is one hour behind Greece and the international dialling code is 0041. The city is served by Geneva International Airport (GVA – Cointrin), just 4 kilometres from the centre. Top tip: Geneva offers one of the best free services for tourists. On arrival at your hotel, you receive the Geneva Transport Card completely free of charge, allowing you to use all of the city’s public transport for free (buses, trams, trains and the Mouettes boats that cross the lake). The connection from the airport to the central Gare Cornavin station takes just 7 minutes by Train, and the journey is free if you collect the relevant ticket from the machines in the baggage-claim area!

The full list of what is and is not included appears in the "Included / Excluded" section on this page.
It depends on the season and the destination. Many trips do have a direct flight, but depending on your dates the airlines may not have a direct connection available for that period, in which case the trip may involve one stopover. We will tell you the exact flight routing clearly in your quote, before you proceed with the booking.
Not necessarily. The "From €X" price is the lowest price available today, based on current flight and hotel availability for that destination. Because availability changes daily, the final price for your specific dates may differ. We'll send you a firm, written quote before anything is charged, once you tell us the dates you have in mind.
Flight and hotel prices change daily depending on season, demand, day of the week, and how far in advance you book. That's why the price shown is indicative — the earlier you tell us your dates, the easier it is for us to secure the best possible price.
The single-room supplement varies by hotel and destination, and is included in the quote you'll receive for your specific dates. If you're travelling alone, let us know from the start so the quote already reflects the correct single-room price.
Payment is due in full at the time of booking. For certain hotels that have their own payment policy (for example a deposit or a specific payment deadline), we'll let you know clearly before you proceed, so you know exactly what applies.
Yes — once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed and won't be affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
Several trips offer the option to depart from a city other than Athens (for example Thessaloniki), usually with a small additional charge. If this applies to a specific trip, it will be noted on the page or mentioned when we send your quote. This trip is also available departing from Larnaca (Cyprus) — the flight price difference is calculated in your personal quote.
For destinations inside the European Union and the Schengen area, Greek citizens travel with a new-type national ID card bearing Latin characters, or with a valid passport. We recommend carrying your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as well. Minors must carry their own travel document, and a valid driving licence is required if you are hiring a car. Entry rules change, so please confirm the current requirements with us before you book.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked for you, so the cost depends on how close to departure you are and on the fare rules of each booking. Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
Yes — this is an individual trip, not a group departure. There is no fixed itinerary and no coach schedule: you travel on your own, at your own pace. We can change the number of nights, the class of hotel, add or drop destinations and arrange transfers, car hire or private guides.
Send us a request through the form on this page, call us, or drop by the office. We will come back with availability and a written quotation before anything is charged. The trip as shown runs for 4 days.
