The Dalmatian coast is made for a car: a coastal road following thousands of bays, medieval towns on peninsulas, and islands you reach by ferry together with your car. It’s the most “cinematic” road trip in the region, and the easiest to do at your own pace.
From Greece the route runs either via Albania and Montenegro (coastal, slower but spectacular) or via North Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia (faster, on motorway). Within Croatia the main axis is motorway A1 heading north, and the coastal Jadranska magistrala for the views. Watch out for the Neum corridor, where you cross a short stretch of Bosnia-Herzegovina — or use the new Pelješac Bridge that bypasses it.
Dubrovnik was the independent Republic of Ragusa, a trading power that stood up to both Venice and the Ottomans; its walls are a UNESCO monument. In Split, the entire old town is built inside the palace of Diocletian (4th century). Zadar and Trogir retain their Roman and Venetian character.

Dalmatian cuisine is pure Mediterranean: fresh fish and seafood, olive oil, peka (meat or octopus slow-cooked under a bell), prosciutto and cheese from Pag. The white wines of Dalmatia and the red Plavac Mali from Pelješac are excellent. Prices along the coastal tourist spots are higher than elsewhere in the Balkans.
Hvar has a reputation as the most cosmopolitan island in the Adriatic, with beach bars and clubs. Split comes alive along the Riva and inside the palace’s alleys. Dubrovnik is quieter and pricier, with bars on the rocks outside the walls — the sunset view is worth it.
Currency: Euro (since 2023). Time zone: one hour behind Greece. Croatia is in the EU and Schengen. Do you need a vignette? No — you pay regular tolls on the A1. Ferries to the islands need advance booking in summer if you’re bringing a car. Best time to visit: May–June and September.

Yes — once your booking is completed, the price is fixed and is not affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
As this is a trip in your own car, there is no departure surcharge — you start from wherever suits you.
For your trip within Greece, a valid ID card or passport is enough. If you're travelling by air, you'll need an official photo ID for airport checks. For minors travelling, please check what documentation may be required.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked on your behalf, so the cost depends on how close to departure we are and each fare's rules. Let us know as early as possible and we'll look for the least costly solution. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless explicitly stated in the page's inclusions. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the European Union, so that medical care, cancellation and luggage loss are covered. We can arrange it for you — just ask when booking.
Yes — this is an individual trip, not a group departure. There's no fixed itinerary or coach schedule: you travel on your own, at your own pace. We can change the overnight stays, the hotel category, add or remove destinations, and arrange transfers, car hire or private guided tours.
