Malta is a beautiful island nation in the heart of the Mediterranean and one of Europe’s most popular destinations. The Maltese archipelago uniquely combines rich history, impressive architecture in its characteristic honey-and-gold stone, and a cosmopolitan air. Malta is a country that can satisfy every visitor’s need and taste. If you love tales of knights and medieval castles, here you can feel part of history yourself, wandering the narrow streets of Valletta and Mdina. Add the countless seaside bars, the modern shops of Sliema and St. Julian’s, and the wide range of dining options with Mediterranean and Arabic influences, and Malta promises you an unforgettable holiday.
Malta’s history dates back to prehistoric times, with its impressive megalithic temples even older than the pyramids of Egypt. Over the centuries, thanks to its strategic position, it passed through the hands of the Phoenicians, the Romans and the Arabs, who laid the foundations of its language and culture. A decisive role in Malta’s development was played by the Order of the Knights of St. John, who built its fortifications and the capital, Valletta, in the 16th century. The island later became a British colony, gaining its independence in 1964. Since then, Malta has experienced rapid economic and tourist growth and is today a modern European state with a unique character.
Malta has many attractions — often more than visitors can manage to see in just a few days. We start with the country’s emblem, the capital Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site full of imposing palaces and fortifications. In the heart of the city stands St. John’s Co-Cathedral, which impresses with its golden Baroque interior and houses masterpieces by Caravaggio. A short distance away are the Upper Barrakka Gardens, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities. One of the most famous sights is also Mdina, the old capital, known as the “Silent City”, where visitors can lose themselves in its medieval, labyrinthine alleys. For a taste of the island’s natural beauty, a visit to the Blue Grotto or a day trip to the neighbouring islet of Comino with the famous Blue Lagoon is a must. Finally, the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk, with its traditional colourful “luzzu” boats, attracts great numbers of visitors, especially during its Sunday market.
Malta is a paradise for food lovers, offering a cuisine that combines Sicilian finesse with bold North African flavours. There are so many dining options that it is extremely hard to choose just one. You will find places to eat on every corner of the tourist areas. At Marsaxlokk harbour you can enjoy fresh fish and seafood, while in Sliema and St. Julian’s you will find many restaurants specialising in international and fusion cuisine. Even in street food, the island offers countless options for a quick and affordable meal. A classic Maltese speciality you can find everywhere and really should try is pastizzi, a delicious crispy pastry filled with ricotta or mushy peas. For a main course, don’t miss stuffat tal-fenek (traditional rabbit stew), ideally accompanied by the local Cisk beer or the soft drink Kinnie — just as the Maltese do.
Malta is a lively country with a vibrant nightlife and, despite its small size, offers endless options. You can find thousands of bars, clubs, cafés and live-music venues. If you love electronic or pop music, you will find large open-air clubs with internationally renowned DJs, as well as big summer festivals. Classic pubs and wine bars are housed in restored medieval buildings in Valletta, ready to offer you a glass of good wine, while there are plenty of clubs to keep you going until morning. The most popular area for intense nightlife is Paceville in St. Julian’s, where the heart of the island’s nightlife beats. For more alternative and relaxed options, choose the alleys of Valletta or the Sliema waterfront, where you will find elegant cocktail bars to enjoy your evening.
The currency of Malta is the Euro (€), so no currency exchange is needed for travellers from eurozone countries. Malta is one hour behind Greece, and the country’s international dialling code is 00356.
Malta has one main airport, Malta International Airport (Luqa Airport – MLA). It lies very close to all the island’s key spots, just 8 kilometres south of the capital Valletta (around 15-20 minutes by car or bus). Getting to and from the airport is extremely easy with express buses (X-lines), taxis or rental vehicles (note: in Malta they drive on the left side of the road, as in London).

The full list of what is and is not included appears in the "Included / Excluded" section on this page.
It depends on the season and the destination. Many trips do have a direct flight, but depending on your dates the airlines may not have a direct connection available for that period, in which case the trip may involve one stopover. We will tell you the exact flight routing clearly in your quote, before you proceed with the booking.
Not necessarily. The "From €X" price is the lowest price available today, based on current flight and hotel availability for that destination. Because availability changes daily, the final price for your specific dates may differ. We'll send you a firm, written quote before anything is charged, once you tell us the dates you have in mind.
Flight and hotel prices change daily depending on season, demand, day of the week, and how far in advance you book. That's why the price shown is indicative — the earlier you tell us your dates, the easier it is for us to secure the best possible price.
The single-room supplement varies by hotel and destination, and is included in the quote you'll receive for your specific dates. If you're travelling alone, let us know from the start so the quote already reflects the correct single-room price.
Payment is due in full at the time of booking. For certain hotels that have their own payment policy (for example a deposit or a specific payment deadline), we'll let you know clearly before you proceed, so you know exactly what applies.
Yes — once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed and won't be affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
Several trips offer the option to depart from a city other than Athens (for example Thessaloniki), usually with a small additional charge. If this applies to a specific trip, it will be noted on the page or mentioned when we send your quote. This trip is also available departing from Larnaca (Cyprus) — the flight price difference is calculated in your personal quote.
For destinations inside the European Union and the Schengen area, Greek citizens travel with a new-type national ID card bearing Latin characters, or with a valid passport. We recommend carrying your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as well. Minors must carry their own travel document, and a valid driving licence is required if you are hiring a car. Entry rules change, so please confirm the current requirements with us before you book.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked for you, so the cost depends on how close to departure you are and on the fare rules of each booking. Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
Yes — this is an individual trip, not a group departure. There is no fixed itinerary and no coach schedule: you travel on your own, at your own pace. We can change the number of nights, the class of hotel, add or drop destinations and arrange transfers, car hire or private guides.
Send us a request through the form on this page, call us, or drop by the office. We will come back with availability and a written quotation before anything is charged. The trip as shown runs for 4 days.
