Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the de facto “capital of the European Union”, is a multicultural, elegant and unexpectedly charming metropolis. Combining majestic Gothic and Baroque architecture with impressive Art Nouveau buildings and a modern, international air, the city manages to retain a thoroughly welcoming, human character. Known worldwide for its superb chocolate, its hundreds of fine beers and its love of comics, Brussels is a destination full of lively squares, green parks and hidden treasures. It is a city of contrasts, where the seriousness of the European institutions meets the surreal humour and bohemian spirit of its inhabitants, offering a unique travel experience.
Brussels began in the 10th century as a small fortress on an islet in the River Senne and quickly grew into one of the most important trading centres of Flanders. Over the centuries, the city passed through the rule of the Burgundians, the Spanish, the French and the Dutch, absorbing elements from all these cultures. In 1830, Brussels became the capital of the newly independent Kingdom of Belgium, enjoying an enormous industrial and architectural boom under King Leopold II. Despite the ordeals and destruction of the two World Wars, the city was reborn, and in 1958 it was chosen as the seat of the main institutions of the European Economic Community (today’s EU) and NATO, sealing its permanent international and diplomatic character.
The tour begins at the Grand Place (Grote Markt), the city’s central square, considered one of the most beautiful in the world and protected by UNESCO, surrounded by the impressive Town Hall and the gilded guild houses. A short distance away is the Manneken Pis, the famous little bronze statue that symbolises Brussels’ sense of humour. Stroll through the luxurious covered Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert arcades for window shopping and top chocolatiers. The landmark of the modern city is the imposing Atomium, a giant structure representing an iron crystal, built for the 1958 EXPO and offering a unique view. For lovers of politics and history, the European Quarter (Quartier Européen) with the European Parliament and the interactive Parlamentarium museum is an essential stop. Finally, the city is dotted with impressive comic-strip murals (Comic Strip Route) honouring heroes such as Tintin and the Smurfs.
Belgian cuisine is famous, rich and offers some of the world’s best-loved flavours. The ultimate national dish is Moules-Frites (fresh mussels cooked in a wine or celery broth, served with crispy fries). Belgium claims to have invented the chip, so try authentic frites in a paper cone with home-made mayonnaise from a traditional frietkot (such as Maison Antoine). For those with a sweet tooth, Belgian waffles are a temptation — try the Liège waffle (Gaufre de Liège) with caramelised sugar in the dough. Brussels is, of course, chocolate paradise: visit the houses of Neuhaus, Pierre Marcolini and Leonidas for authentic pralines. Accompany every meal with one of the hundreds of famous Belgian beers (Trappist, Abbey, or the distinctive sour Lambic and Geuze beers).
Nightlife in Brussels is relaxed, warm and centred mainly around beer culture and good bars. The heart of the action lies in the area around the former Stock Exchange (Bourse) and Place Saint-Géry, where old warehouses have been converted into trendy bars with live music. For an authentic, historic experience, the Delirium Café (near the Grand Place) is world-famous, holding the Guinness record with a list of more than 2,000 different beers. The Place Lux (Place du Luxembourg) area in the European Quarter buzzes with life especially on Thursday evenings, when all the EU workers gather for the customary after-work drink. If you are after clubbing with electronic and techno music, the legendary Fuse is one of the oldest and best-known clubs in Europe.
The official currency of Belgium is the Euro (€), so transactions are effortless, and cards are widely accepted everywhere (many shops are actually “card only”). Brussels is one hour behind Greece, and the international dialling code is 0032. The city is served mainly by the main Brussels International Airport (BRU – Zaventem), around 12 kilometres from the centre. The connection to the city’s main stations (Brussels North, Central, South) is incredibly easy and fast via the train, departing every 10 minutes from beneath the airport (journey time around 15 minutes). Many low-cost airlines use Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL), around 46 kilometres from the city, which is connected to the centre (Brussels-South / Midi station) by Flibco express buses running every 30 minutes.

The full list of what is and is not included appears in the "Included / Excluded" section on this page.
It depends on the season and the destination. Many trips do have a direct flight, but depending on your dates the airlines may not have a direct connection available for that period, in which case the trip may involve one stopover. We will tell you the exact flight routing clearly in your quote, before you proceed with the booking.
Not necessarily. The "From €X" price is the lowest price available today, based on current flight and hotel availability for that destination. Because availability changes daily, the final price for your specific dates may differ. We'll send you a firm, written quote before anything is charged, once you tell us the dates you have in mind.
Flight and hotel prices change daily depending on season, demand, day of the week, and how far in advance you book. That's why the price shown is indicative — the earlier you tell us your dates, the easier it is for us to secure the best possible price.
The single-room supplement varies by hotel and destination, and is included in the quote you'll receive for your specific dates. If you're travelling alone, let us know from the start so the quote already reflects the correct single-room price.
Payment is due in full at the time of booking. For certain hotels that have their own payment policy (for example a deposit or a specific payment deadline), we'll let you know clearly before you proceed, so you know exactly what applies.
Yes — once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed and won't be affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
Several trips offer the option to depart from a city other than Athens (for example Thessaloniki), usually with a small additional charge. If this applies to a specific trip, it will be noted on the page or mentioned when we send your quote. This trip is also available departing from Larnaca (Cyprus) — the flight price difference is calculated in your personal quote.
For destinations inside the European Union and the Schengen area, Greek citizens travel with a new-type national ID card bearing Latin characters, or with a valid passport. We recommend carrying your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as well. Minors must carry their own travel document, and a valid driving licence is required if you are hiring a car. Entry rules change, so please confirm the current requirements with us before you book.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked for you, so the cost depends on how close to departure you are and on the fare rules of each booking. Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
Yes — this is an individual trip, not a group departure. There is no fixed itinerary and no coach schedule: you travel on your own, at your own pace. We can change the number of nights, the class of hotel, add or drop destinations and arrange transfers, car hire or private guides.
Send us a request through the form on this page, call us, or drop by the office. We will come back with availability and a written quotation before anything is charged. The trip as shown runs for 4 days.
