A country the size of the Peloponnese that fits in the Alps, caves, vineyards and the sea. Slovenia is one of the easiest destinations for a self-drive trip: short distances, immaculate roads, and scenery that changes every half hour.
The fast route runs via Serbia and Croatia (E75 → Belgrade → Zagreb → Ljubljana), almost entirely on motorway. It’s a long trip — allow two days of driving with an overnight stop in Belgrade or Zagreb. Within Slovenia you’ll need a vignette (electronic e-vinjeta), and in Croatia you pay regular tolls. A green card is needed for Serbia.
Ljubljana was built over the Roman city of Emona. Its present-day look was largely shaped by the architect Jože Plečnik in the early 20th century — the bridges, the market and the banks of the Ljubljanica River are his work and are protected by UNESCO. The islet of Bled, with the Church of the Assumption, has been a pilgrimage site since the 11th century.
Lake Bled with its islet and the castle on the cliff; Lake Bohinj and Vintgar Gorge; the Postojna caves with their underground train, and Predjama Castle built into a cliff; Ljubljana with its Dragon Bridge; the Soča Valley with its turquoise waters; and Škocjan Caves (UNESCO).
A crossroads of Austrian, Italian and Balkan cuisine: štruklji (rolled dumplings with filling), kranjska klobasa (Carniolan sausage), risotto and pasta in the west, goulash in the east. Bled cream cake is a must. Wines from the Primorska and Štajerska regions are of excellent quality.
Ljubljana is a student city: the riverbanks fill with café tables and bars, and Metelkova — a self-managed complex in former army barracks — offers an alternative scene. In Bled and the mountains, the evening is quiet and family-friendly.
Currency: Euro. Time zone: one hour behind Greece. Slovenia is in the EU and Schengen. A vignette is required for motorways — buy it before entering, fines are steep. Distance: ~1,400 km from Thessaloniki. Best time to visit: May–September; December–March for the ski resorts.

Yes — once your booking is completed, the price is fixed and is not affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
As this is a trip in your own car, there is no departure surcharge — you start from wherever suits you.
For your trip within Greece, a valid ID card or passport is enough. If you're travelling by air, you'll need an official photo ID for airport checks. For minors travelling, please check what documentation may be required.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked on your behalf, so the cost depends on how close to departure we are and each fare's rules. Let us know as early as possible and we'll look for the least costly solution. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless explicitly stated in the page's inclusions. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the European Union, so that medical care, cancellation and luggage loss are covered. We can arrange it for you — just ask when booking.
