Rome is the capital of Italy and one of the most historic and beautiful cities in the world, known as the “Eternal City”. The city stretches along both banks of the River Tiber in the central part of the country and is famous for its countless attractions, its vast cultural heritage, its unrivalled style and its lively atmosphere. Rome is the city that can satisfy every visitor’s need and taste. If you love historic tales of emperors and gladiators, here you can feel part of history yourself, visiting the ancient monuments, the imposing Renaissance squares and the palaces. Add the countless traditional trattorias offering excellent local wine for relaxed evenings, the modern fashion boutiques around Piazza di Spagna and the huge range of dining options, and Rome promises you an unforgettable holiday.
Rome dates back to the 8th century BC when, according to legend, it was founded by Romulus and Remus. As the capital of the Roman Empire, it laid the foundations of Western civilisation, law and architecture, dominating the entire Mediterranean for centuries. During the Renaissance and Baroque periods, the city experienced a new intellectual and artistic flowering under the Papal States, with leading artists such as Michelangelo and Bernini reshaping its image. In modern history, after the unification of Italy in the 19th century, Rome was officially declared the capital of the state. From the mid-20th century onwards, the city saw rapid social and tourist growth and is today one of the most important cultural and economic centres in the world.
Rome has so many attractions that visitors often cannot see them all in a single trip. We start with the city’s emblem, the Colosseum, built in the 1st century AD and the largest ancient amphitheatre in the world. Its outer walls reach 48 metres in height and its interior is fully open to visitors, offering a journey back to the time of the gladiators. Next to the Colosseum lies the archaeological site of the Roman Forum, for centuries the heart of public life in ancient Rome. A short distance away stands the impressive Pantheon, the ancient temple with the largest unreinforced dome in the world, preserved in excellent condition. One of the city’s most famous sights is the Trevi Fountain, the beautiful Baroque fountain where visitors traditionally toss a coin and make a wish to return to Rome. For a panoramic view of the city, as well as a unique religious and artistic experience, be sure to visit the Vatican (the smallest state in the world), dominated by St. Peter’s Basilica and the famous Vatican Museums with the Sistine Chapel. Finally, Piazza Navona and Piazza di Spagna with the famous Spanish Steps attract huge numbers of visitors every day for strolls and photos.
Rome is a paradise for food lovers. It offers so many options that it is extremely hard to choose just one. Here you can find authentic Italian flavours as well as cuisines from every corner of the planet to suit your preferences. There are food options on every corner of the city. In the Testaccio area you can enjoy traditional Roman recipes, while in picturesque Trastevere you will find countless restaurants specialising in local and international cuisine. Even in street food, the city offers countless options for a quick and affordable meal, such as the famous pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice) and supplì (fried rice balls with mozzarella). A classic Roman speciality you can find everywhere and really should try is the authentic Carbonara or Cacio e Pepe (pasta with pecorino cheese and freshly ground pepper). For breakfast or a snack, don’t miss an Italian gelato or an espresso accompanied by a cornetto — just as the Italians do in their daily routine.
Rome is a lively city and, thanks to its size, offers endless options. You can find thousands of bars, clubs, cafés and live-music venues all over the city. If you love relaxed cocktails and aperitivo, you will find bustling squares where people enjoy themselves outdoors until late, as well as bars with live jazz and rock music. Classic Italian enoteche (wine bars) are on every corner, ready to offer you a glass of fine wine or a refreshing Aperol Spritz, while there are also big clubs to keep you dancing until morning. The most popular areas for going out are Trastevere, Piazza Navona and the area around Campo de’ Fiori. For more alternative options and a student vibe, choose San Lorenzo or Pigneto, where you will find bohemian bars to enjoy your evening.
The currency of Rome is the Euro (€), so no currency exchange is needed for travellers from eurozone countries. Rome is one hour behind Greece, and Italy’s international dialling code is 0039.
Rome has 2 airports. The main international airport, Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci), lies 32 kilometres south-west of central Rome, while Ciampino airport is 15 kilometres south-east of the city centre and mainly serves low-cost airlines. Both airports are connected to central Rome (Termini station) quickly and easily by train (such as the Leonardo Express) or express buses.

The full list of what is and is not included appears in the "Included / Excluded" section on this page.
It depends on the season and the destination. Many trips do have a direct flight, but depending on your dates the airlines may not have a direct connection available for that period, in which case the trip may involve one stopover. We will tell you the exact flight routing clearly in your quote, before you proceed with the booking.
Not necessarily. The "From €X" price is the lowest price available today, based on current flight and hotel availability for that destination. Because availability changes daily, the final price for your specific dates may differ. We'll send you a firm, written quote before anything is charged, once you tell us the dates you have in mind.
Flight and hotel prices change daily depending on season, demand, day of the week, and how far in advance you book. That's why the price shown is indicative — the earlier you tell us your dates, the easier it is for us to secure the best possible price.
The single-room supplement varies by hotel and destination, and is included in the quote you'll receive for your specific dates. If you're travelling alone, let us know from the start so the quote already reflects the correct single-room price.
Payment is due in full at the time of booking. For certain hotels that have their own payment policy (for example a deposit or a specific payment deadline), we'll let you know clearly before you proceed, so you know exactly what applies.
Yes — once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed and won't be affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
Several trips offer the option to depart from a city other than Athens (for example Thessaloniki), usually with a small additional charge. If this applies to a specific trip, it will be noted on the page or mentioned when we send your quote. This trip is also available departing from Larnaca (Cyprus) — the flight price difference is calculated in your personal quote.
For destinations inside the European Union and the Schengen area, Greek citizens travel with a new-type national ID card bearing Latin characters, or with a valid passport. We recommend carrying your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as well. Minors must carry their own travel document, and a valid driving licence is required if you are hiring a car. Entry rules change, so please confirm the current requirements with us before you book.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked for you, so the cost depends on how close to departure you are and on the fare rules of each booking. Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
Yes — this is an individual trip, not a group departure. There is no fixed itinerary and no coach schedule: you travel on your own, at your own pace. We can change the number of nights, the class of hotel, add or drop destinations and arrange transfers, car hire or private guides.
Send us a request through the form on this page, call us, or drop by the office. We will come back with availability and a written quotation before anything is charged. The trip as shown runs for 4 days.
