Naples is the third-largest city in Italy and the capital of the Italian South, a city with an explosive temperament, striking contrasts and unique charm. Built on the bay of the same name, in the shadow of the imposing volcano Vesuvius, Naples is considered by many to be the most authentic Italian city. It is famous for its picturesque narrow alleys with laundry strung overhead, its rich artistic and architectural heritage, and for being the birthplace of pizza. It is a destination full of vitality, colours and sounds that will enchant any visitor seeking an authentic, unpretentious and deeply Mediterranean experience.
The history of Naples is closely linked to Greece, as it was founded by Greek colonists in the 8th century BC as “Parthenope” and later renamed “Neapolis”. In Roman times it became a favourite resort of emperors thanks to its climate and culture. In the centuries that followed, it passed through the rule of the Byzantines, the Normans, the Angevins and the Spanish Bourbons, flourishing enormously as the capital of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and becoming one of the most populous and wealthiest cities in Europe. It was incorporated into the unified Italian state in 1861. Its historic centre has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an open-air museum bearing witness to its glorious past.
The historic centre of Naples is a labyrinth full of treasures. The starting point is the famous Spaccanapoli, the long, narrow street that literally “splits” the city in two and bustles with life. Very close by is the impressive Piazza del Plebiscito, the city’s largest square, dominated by the Royal Palace (Palazzo Reale) and the Church of San Francesco di Paola. For a unique artistic experience, a visit to the Sansevero Chapel to see the stunning sculpture of the Veiled Christ (Cristo Velato) up close is essential. Naples also boasts impressive castles, such as the seaside Castel dell’Ovo (Egg Castle) at the little harbour of Borgo Marinari, and Castel Nuovo. For a panoramic view of the city and Vesuvius, it is worth going up to Castel Sant’Elmo, while for lovers of mystery, a guided tour of Underground Naples (Napoli Sotterranea) reveals an entire ancient city beneath your feet. Finally, the National Archaeological Museum houses some of the most important finds in the world, including the treasures of Pompeii.
Naples is, without exaggeration, the gastronomic capital of Italy. This is the birthplace of authentic Neapolitan pizza (with its thin, soft base and puffy crust), and a visit to historic pizzerias such as L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele or Sorbillo is a true ritual. Be sure to try the simple yet divine Pizza Margherita or Pizza Marinara, as well as Pizza Fritta (fried pizza), the city’s ultimate street food. Neapolitan cuisine is also famous for its seafood, its pasta with ragù (Ragù Napoletano) and Cuoppo (paper cones filled with fried fish or vegetables). For dessert, the city offers unique delights: try Sfogliatella (crisp layered pastry filled with ricotta) and Babà (a fluffy rum-soaked cake), and accompany them with a traditional, strong Neapolitan espresso.
Naples’ nightlife is outgoing, spontaneous and takes place mainly in the streets and squares. People gather outside the bars with an Aperol Spritz or a beer in hand, creating a unique, festive atmosphere. Piazza Bellini is the ultimate student and alternative meeting point, full of cafés and small bars next to ancient Greek walls. For more cosmopolitan, chic entertainment, the Chiaia district offers wine bars, cocktail lounges and refined restaurants. The seafront promenade (Lungomare) is also ideal for an evening drink with a sea view, while around the port and on the outskirts there are large clubs for dancing until the early hours.
The currency in Naples is the Euro (€), so no currency exchange is needed for travellers from eurozone countries. Naples is one hour behind Greece, and Italy’s international dialling code is 0039. The city is served by Naples International Airport Capodichino (NAP), which is extremely close to the city centre (around 6 kilometres north). Getting from the airport to the centre and the main railway station (Stazione Centrale at Piazza Garibaldi), as well as to the port, is very quick and easy with the Alibus express bus.

The full list of what is and is not included appears in the "Included / Excluded" section on this page.
It depends on the season and the destination. Many trips do have a direct flight, but depending on your dates the airlines may not have a direct connection available for that period, in which case the trip may involve one stopover. We will tell you the exact flight routing clearly in your quote, before you proceed with the booking.
Not necessarily. The "From €X" price is the lowest price available today, based on current flight and hotel availability for that destination. Because availability changes daily, the final price for your specific dates may differ. We'll send you a firm, written quote before anything is charged, once you tell us the dates you have in mind.
Flight and hotel prices change daily depending on season, demand, day of the week, and how far in advance you book. That's why the price shown is indicative — the earlier you tell us your dates, the easier it is for us to secure the best possible price.
The single-room supplement varies by hotel and destination, and is included in the quote you'll receive for your specific dates. If you're travelling alone, let us know from the start so the quote already reflects the correct single-room price.
Payment is due in full at the time of booking. For certain hotels that have their own payment policy (for example a deposit or a specific payment deadline), we'll let you know clearly before you proceed, so you know exactly what applies.
Yes — once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed and won't be affected by later changes in flight or hotel prices. Availability and price can only change before your booking is finalised.
Several trips offer the option to depart from a city other than Athens (for example Thessaloniki), usually with a small additional charge. If this applies to a specific trip, it will be noted on the page or mentioned when we send your quote. This trip is also available departing from Larnaca (Cyprus) — the flight price difference is calculated in your personal quote.
For destinations inside the European Union and the Schengen area, Greek citizens travel with a new-type national ID card bearing Latin characters, or with a valid passport. We recommend carrying your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as well. Minors must carry their own travel document, and a valid driving licence is required if you are hiring a car. Entry rules change, so please confirm the current requirements with us before you book.
Changes and cancellations follow the terms of the airlines, hotels and suppliers booked for you, so the cost depends on how close to departure you are and on the fare rules of each booking. Tell us as early as possible and we will look for the least costly option. The general terms of participation apply to every booking.
Travel insurance is not included in the price unless the "Included" list on this page says otherwise. We strongly recommend it, especially for trips outside the EU, so that medical care, cancellation and lost luggage are covered. We can arrange a policy for you — just ask when you book.
Yes — this is an individual trip, not a group departure. There is no fixed itinerary and no coach schedule: you travel on your own, at your own pace. We can change the number of nights, the class of hotel, add or drop destinations and arrange transfers, car hire or private guides.
Send us a request through the form on this page, call us, or drop by the office. We will come back with availability and a written quotation before anything is charged. The trip as shown runs for 4 days.
