Bansko, with its rich history, was once an important community of stockbreeders and merchants who travelled the surrounding regions to trade their goods. Today it has grown into one of the most popular destinations for tourists from all over the world.

Known as an “international centre of winter tourism”, Bansko offers unique experiences for nature lovers and winter-sports enthusiasts alike. It lies close to the striking peaks of the Pirin mountains, whose abundant natural beauty includes lakes and dense pine forests.

In recent years, Bansko has become a rival to the great ski resorts of France and Switzerland, offering high-quality services at affordable prices. The gondola lift, in operation since 2003, serves visitors with modern facilities, while the skiing options include slopes for every level of experience. The neighbouring village of Banya, famous for its thermal springs, adds yet another reason to visit the area.

The Bansko ski resort offers a total of 75 kilometres of slopes, at altitudes ranging from 1,000 to 2,560 metres. With runs suited to beginners, experienced and advanced skiers alike, it is an ideal choice for every visitor. The season usually begins in November and lasts until spring, making it a perfect destination for winter activities.

In addition, the resort features 18 slopes, more than 10 lifts, as well as a fun park for snowboarders and other activities. Visitors can enjoy snowmobiling, test their skills on the ice rinks, or explore the area through organised ski schools and equipment hire.

With its combination of natural beauty, excellent infrastructure and affordability, Bansko continues to draw visitors from every corner of Europe and beyond.
